Parkway Tree Planting
In the Windhaven subdivision, no trees are to be planted in the parkway due
to water and sewer lines running throughout the area. Trees may be planted
in yards, but must be 10 ft away from the edge of the sidewalks. Trees that
are in the parkway should be moved to a new location.
Don’t let your toilet waste water!
A silent leak in your toilet can waste several thousands gallons of water
each year and place unnecessary demands on your sewer system or septic tank.
In addition, it will cause a higher water bill for you. Usually you cannot
hear the leak because it runs slowly out of the tank. If the flow dial on your
water meter is spinning, when you have no water running in your home, there
is a leak.
How can you discover if your toilet leaks?
Follow these easy steps:
1. Lift the lid off of your toilet tank.
2. Place 3 or 4 drops of ordinary food coloring into the toilet tank (do
not use dye as it may stain).
3. Wait. Do not flush or otherwise disturb the toilet for 1 or 2 hours.
4. At the end of the waiting period, observe the toilet bowl. If the color
that you placed in the tank now appears in the bowl, you have a leak.
Most frequently, defective flush valves that tend to wear out after several
years cause toilet leaks. See your hardware dealer or plumber to obtain an
inexpensive and easy to install replacement valve or a complete replacement
kit.
